Services
Bread bakers create sustenance out of life. Wild yeasts improbably survive on grains that have felt the full force of nature, man, and the milling process. Life in the form of a natural starter awakens with just a bit of water. THE PROCESS is unpredictable. The baker needs intuition, flexibility and patience to work with a live culture and it's reactions to conditions that change with every batch.
Red Bird offers cakes for occasions large and small. We love creating a lovely, delicious confections to help you celebrate moments in your life, even if it's a "just because I thought of you" kind of day. We develop unique fillings and frostings from the amazing California artisans, farmers and dairymen we are lucky enough to have in our own backyard.

After going to Red Bird Bakery for years I'm happy to say it's still amazing!
Pre-Covid Red Bird was our go-to spot for Fresh Bread and Pastries. For a stretch, we brought home Red Bird's Rustic White Loaf almost every week, not to mention any time we were near Cotati and someone needed a pick-me-up, we always seemed to find ourselves at Red-Bird grabbing a rich Brownie or phenomenal Lemon Bar.
Sadly, once the pandemic hit, none of us were going through Cotati often and so, Red Bird simply faded from our minds. That all changed last month, however, when we wanted to bring home

These people make THE BEST epi baguette I've found. Unfortunately I'm often too lazy to go the farmers' market for them and their 2 locations aren't too close to me but fortunately I've been at the Barlow in Sebastopol a couple times in the last few weeks and was able to get some Epi and a few other delights. They are really good!

Red Bird Bakery serves up delicious pastries in addition to bread, sandwiches, baked goods and cakes and they are family owned too! Be sure to arrive early to get what you are looking for as they do run out of items as the day goes on. One of my favorite pastries is their almond croissant. I recently tried their cheese and pesto roll, which was AMAZING too! Many of their other pastries are pretty tasty too! I do wish their chai lattes were a little better. While they make their chai homemade it lacks flavor.

One of the best new bakeries I've been to in a while!! Make sure you come early to order from their full selection of baked goods- by the time I arrived around 11:15am on a Saturday, they had already sold out or were close to selling out of some items (only vegan scones were left and there were no chocolate croissants; other items were likely also sold out). However, they do have a HUGE variety to choose from, and almost everything I purchased on my visit was fantastic. Luckily, they only had one party in front of me when I arrived, and I was in an out in less than 10 minutes. I tried:

I was on a quest to find some sweet treats for my daughter's college roommates. So lucky I found this Bakery. Walking in didn't seem like they had a ton of stuff, but I was wrong. What they do have is a little piece of heaven. Lemon Bars, Peanut bar, some bar with coconut, and their version of an oreo cookie. Drool! As I was checking out, I noticed little baguette sandwiches, so many to choose from. I opted for the Pesto chicken. Everything about this was perfection. Until I return

My husband and I ordered a 9" Lemony Delight for our small wedding. We didn't ask them to decorate it any special way, we just ordered it classic and it was beautiful! So delicious, the frosting on the outside was a little different than normal buttercream, slightly waxy but the cake and lemon curd in the center was amazing!

This place is ridiculous. I used to love this bakery BEFORE COVID. Now they never have ANYTHING anymore. You are sold out of most everything BEFORE 9 AM??? HOW CAN YOU CAll YOURSELF A BAKERY????
You used to be the best bakery around and your stuff is usually great, but it's frustrating and disappointing to go to a damn BAKERY that doesn't have any pastries. I don't want a sandwich at 9 in the morning, I don't want pizza at nine in the morning. I want a good choice of pastries, I miss your delicious scones, not dry tasteless vegan scones.

I happened across this place after a hike in the eastern part of RP, and we were both ravenous for some snacks. I didn't know that this bakery existed, and was thrilled to see it so close to a lot of places I frequent like Oliver's.
