Located on fourteen acres of woodland and bordered by the winding Piscassic river, Aryaloka is a tranquil refuge in the heart of the Seacoast Region of New Hampshire. Since its founding in 1985, Aryaloka has been a place of spiritual discovery. We are a community dedicated to the study, practice and communication of Buddhist teachings.
We are part of the Triratna Buddhist Community - an international modern Buddhist movement, with centers, communities and projects all over the world. Aryaloka offers a great mix of classes, workshops and retreats on meditation, mindfulness, yoga, Dharma study, and ethical lifestyle topics such as vegetarian cooking.

Services
Aryaloka is located on the lands of the Peskategwa watershed in N'dakinna, the traditional lands and waterways of the Abenaki, Pennacook and other related Wabanaki Peoples past and present. We acknowledge and honor with gratitude the land itself and the people who have stewarded it throughout the generations for thousands of years from the beginning of time.
Please consult the information listed below regarding the type of event you are attending. Cell Phones and Devices: At Aryaloka we intend to create a supportive and friendly space for reflection, meditation, yoga, study, and the experience of spiritual community. We keep our environment as simple as possible to foster a contemplative atmosphere.
Aryaloka Buddhist Center is part of the Triratna Buddhist Community (TBC), an international Buddhist movement of centers, communities, ethical businesses and social projects. The TBC was founded in London in 1967 by the Venerable Urgyen Sangharakshita (1925-2018) as The Friends of the Western Buddhist Order.
Although we have several visiting teachers every year, many of our events at Aryaloka are facilitated by local members of our Order. In Triratna, we do not have a guru; rather, we lead together, working in the spirit of consensus and from the initial vision of our founder Urgyen Sangharakshita. We value spiritual friendship and the value of peer support, while also acknowledging that some of us have more experience than others.
Aryaloka's Spiritual Vitality Council is composed of senior members of the Triratna Buddhist Order entrusted to ensure that Aryaloka's teaching and programs effectively communicate the Dharma, and reflect the perspective of the Triratna Buddhist Community. The SVC ensures that Aryaloka's classes, programs and retreats appeal to a broad range of Buddhist practitioners, from beginners to long-time Order Members.

Aryaloka is a beautiful retreat center that also offers one-day workshops, classes and special events throughout the year. The teachers are knowledgeable and care about their students with open hearts and minds. Tuesday nights are "Friends Nights", a good way to be introduced to the center and the community.

Went for a weekend retreat lead by Akashavanda and Samayadevi, and it was wonderful. They led a well organized and well thought out retreat. Meditation, discussion, vegetarian food, walking in the woods and devotional chanting were all amazing. The whole gestalt of the retreat was wonderful. I got closer to my friends I drove up with and to the new people that I met. Refreshing and renewing weekend, thank you to all.
