Decent dim sum that hits the craving. May return if in the area, but won't go out of my way. My search for great South Bay dim sum continues..
FOOD
Ordering is easy by paper menu. No traditional push carts, though I saw some waiters walking around with fresh options. Pricing is reasonable for the Bay Area. Total cost was $58 for 9 dishes and tea, which is enough for 3
- Har Gao (Shrimp Dumpling): nice plump crisp shrimp, generous filling, fragrant with white pepper. Thinness of the skin is pretty good. 4.5/5
- Lo Bak Go (Pan Fried Turnip Cake): flavor had great umami depth from the dried

This my 6th or 7th time here for Dim Sum. I'm gonna finally review it. It is good solid Dim Sum. I know it doesn't have the carts piled with bamboo steam cylinders inching along the aisles. But it is quality tasty Dim Sum. The peaking duck isn't overly salted and the skin is crispy. You deserve the 4 stars!

Food was absolutely delicious as always. I’ve been to this spot many times and it’s our go-to dim sum place when we’re not willing to drive to SF.
The wait to be seated was long and we waited even longer to get an order in. Wait staff was a little short with us but the food was delicious.
Some family members got to some of the plates before I could get photos of them.

Pretty standard dim sum place
maybe due to COVID best practices there aren’t many carts going around, most of the good stuff you have to order via menu
also maybe I just haven’t had dimsum in a while but the food felt greasier than normal which is probably saying something
Nice place to catch up with friends though

Reasonable price for decent dim sum!
We went on the day before Thanksgiving at 11:30am and was surprised to see how crowded the restaurant was. We were promptly seated at a big table. No waiting for a table. Nice!
They didn’t have the dim sum cart so we ordered by placing an order through a waitress. Food came reasonably soon.
After 15 dishes of dim sum and a plate of fried rice, we were all satisfied. Someone ate 5 BBQ pork buns….yummy!!!

They must lost their dim sum cooks. Their dim sum tasted horrible now. May be they are buying them from somewhere else and just steam them back to sell there. No longer good for dim sum. Don't know about their other dishes, but won't go there for a while until they are back to their previous standard.....

I came here on a Friday evening with my boyfriend because we were wanting to get some dim sum for dinner. Unfortunately, I wish we had called ahead to ask because they only serve their steamed dim sum items (like soup dumplings and whatnot) for dinner in addition to the regular dinner menu that they have. Totally a mistake on our part to not confirm but I do wish it was clearer on their website that this was the case. Nonetheless, we still enjoyed our meal here and will definitely come back in the future during brunch / lunch time for dim sum!
We got in at around 6PM and were seated immediately

Came here on a Thursday afternoon with no wait - the place is huge inside.
Good:
Service is pretty fast and you check off boxes on a sheet with nice English translations so it's easy to know what you're ordering.
I liked the sesame ball dessert and the soup dumplings and fried turnip cake. The Shumai was pretty good as well as the shrimp noodle rolls.
Bad:
Service took a while to come give us the check and it's a bit less bougie of a restaurant - definitely very diner vibes and very classic Chinese dimsum place.
This place won't blow your mind in terms of a dimsum place

This spot has been my favorite dim sum spot in the area for the past couple years. I didn't visit during the pandemic but I'm glad their quality hasn't changed! Their options are solid and while the price per dim sum is not the cheapest, I think it's competitive for the area. I can't wait for the carts to come back once things are back to normal (currently all orders come straight from the kitchen).

Just had dim sum (Sat morning; they let us make a reservation for outdoor dining - 12 people at 11am (which we had to change to 11:30)
For those people complaining this was the worst dim sum, I don't know why you are such whiners.... Or maybe you didn't order appropriately?
Our family enjoyed ourselves! We also got far too much food and packed a bunch for leftovers... I guess this is what happens when you don't go out for dim sum weekly anymore since the pandemic!
They came back fairly frequently to refill our teapots, left us a big pitcher of water (with lime slices) and refilled

Having been spoiled by great dim sum in the Peninsula around Millbrae/South SF, I had high expectations for this place. The host is super busy taking to go orders and they are naturally rude to you if you don't know how to speak Cantonese. I was able to place my to go order in Mandarin but definitely had to repeatedly ask for a pen to mark down my order and did not get any notice of next steps when the host took my order and then disappeared. 5 min later, I got my food and paid for the order so that's a plus having such quick service.
In terms of the food, I ordered: sticky rice dumplings

So I was in San Jose the other day and again Yelp failed me to find good Chinese food instead I got big disappointment and a big hole in my wallet. This what i ordered for my super MEH dinner;
Combination fried rice 3/5 ok nice soft fluffy rice but some flavors wouldn't hurt. It was so bland at least add some soy sauce or something to bring out the flavor.
3 1/2 pounds of ginger noodle lobster 2/5 This one is very bland and very questionable because it did not looked like 3.5 pounds of lobster. Also the flavor is so lacking and boring nothing stood out.
2/5 Roasting duck 2/5 whole Wow

I absolutely lovee the dim sum here! My boyfriend and I are super picky when it comes to dim sum since there are so many places around. (He actually showed me this place since hes been coming here for years). The prices are affordable, and all the dishes we have tried are bomb!!
We always get the shrimp noodle rice roll. This is the best dish here since the rice noodle is super soft and surprisingly tasty, and the sauce is sweet & savory.
Shumai is always solid here, can never go wrong with this one!
Ha gow is also so good! I love that the skin is super soft and not too mushy.
For dessert

There aren't many dim sum options in the area, and New Port Restaurant is just ok if you're desperate - the food is average at best, and the service is really slow and inattentive. After we were seated, it took about 15 minutes to get the attention of a server to hand in our menu order, and another 25 minutes before we got our first round of food.
The pan fried chive & shrimp dumplings came out COLD (so they were sitting there in the kitchen and nobody picked them up BOOOO :(
Have had tastier dim sum elsewhere - the flavors and ingredients just weren't that great (the XLBs

We came to this place because it was referred to us. Came in on a Saturday right around 10:15 and there were still plenty of tables. More people started trickling in after 11.
We ordered the typical spread: siu mai, shrimp dumplings, chicken feet, Chinese broccoli, custard bun, pork spare ribs, shrimp rolls, and lastly porridge.
Tbh it was only okay. The siu mai which are usually my favorite dim sum didn't really have much shrimp in it or that silky porky shrimps oily taste that I like. The best dish was definitely the pork spare ribs in pumpkin and bean sauce. I would avoid the porridge

First timer and not too bad of anything, I must say.
We arrived on a Saturday morning, and the dining room was probably filled at 30%. Grabbing a table was as simple as saying Dim Sum.
Per the usual, our hungry selves ordered much more than a morning appetite could handle. The dim sum was fine -- the menu is certainly extensive so any Chinese food craving could be satisfied here.
We tried everything including the usual suspects Har Gow, Siu Mai, Char Siu Bao (BBQ Pork Bun), Marinated Chicken Feet, Chinese Broccoli, Fried Shrimp Balls, Taro Balls, and pan fried chive pancake.

A solid dim sum place in the Sunnyvale / Cupertino area. My family and I have been regulars since before it was New Port and we've always enjoyed their dim sum and dinners.
The breakdown:
Cheung Fan: pretty good with nice sized shrimp and a soft and fluffy noodle. 3 pieces total with 2 shrimps inside each.
Har gow: i really like this places har gow. At other places the skin can be a bit tough or almost gritty, but New Ports is always soft and has a great little chew. 4 per order.
Sui Mai: pretty standard and always reliable
Turnip cake: solid dish nothing too spectacular or different

You are sui mai type and dim sum more!
Long overdue review for New Port. This is usually my go-to dim sum spot that is close to me. They have more variety dishes than some other "take out dim sum" places I've seen.
Parking is kinda small. PRE-COVID it can get quite full on the weekends.. it's like everyone and their families goes here for brunch or something lol. Wait times can be anywhere between 35-40 minutes on the weekends. I always try to come earlier even before they open up to ensure I am amongst the first round of people to get seated.
My faves are: Sui mai, har

We've been coming here for over a decade. One of the best dim sum restaurants in the south bay. We came today and was able to sit inside. Not very busy but service and food was really good. Jessica was especially very friendly and attentive. Next time you're here, ask for her. The shrimp rolls, pork spare ribs, and chicken feet, are very close to being as good as those in Hong Kong. Don't forget to ask for fresh pastries. They're damn good and worth the trip alone.

The parking lot is very small for the capacity of the restaurant. We went a bit after 11, and had to park on the street. We wait for 45 min to get seated. The menu displayed outside has 5 kinds of tea, but they didn't ask us what kind of tea we would like to have and just served it right away. The food were served quickly, but many dishes are lukewarm. Some dim sum are out of order.
