Thom and Tracey first met in 1997 when Thom interviewed Tracey for a training position. Both having a background in athletic training, their conversation surrounding training methodology laid the groundwork for what would eventually become FIT.
Tracey and Thom spent the next few years as co-workers improving their craft and expertise through professional development opportunities, relationships with others in the field as well as clients and evolving into management roles.They collaborated on most things, and although they did not always agree, they always maintained a shared vision.

Thom began establishing FiT's role in shaping the health and wellbeing of Silicon Valley's highest performers long before FiT itself came into being.
Working alongside countless physicians while pursuing his Master's Degree and for some time after, Thom learned that while the medical community provided solutions to many problems and dysfunctions there were many other aspects to overall health and wellbeing that didn't fall within the doctors' scope of practice.

I started working out at FIT almost two years ago. My goal was to strengthen my severely damaged knee joints and avoid knee replacement surgery. The good news is that I was able to get them strong, however bad news was they were too badly damaged to avoid surgery. Better news, the surgery went extremely well due to how strong all the surrounding tissues had become as a result of my training.
Clients get started with either an in depth baseline assessment or 30 minute, complimentary consultation. The baseline assessment includes movement assessment, evaluation of cardiovascular capacity, a body composition analysis and a comprehensive consultation evaluating habits and behaviors in eating, sleep hygiene, stress management and self care.

I had one private work out session here with a trainer and I really didn't care for the gym or for the trainer (she had funky energy) and promptly switched to another gym in the area. It's nice that the gym is in the Rancho Center as you could run errands in the shopping center after you worked out but FiT was just not a good fit for me.

I am relatively new to working out - 17 weeks of consistent exercise and still going strong! Let's just say I am on the large size, and I don't always feel comfortable dealing with fitness people, but this has not been the case at all with FIT.

I've been doing CrossFit for more than 7 years. I've been a member of 5 affiliates, and have dropped in to more than 30 gyms around the world. CrossFit is about community, positivity, and an inviting atmosphere to throw weights around in. CrossFit Los Altos is not a traditional CrossFit gym. I was a member here for more than a year. I was never into any kind of strength training and my fitness routine was mostly limited to running/jogging. I have been going to FIT for the last 18 months now and I can easily say this has been transformational. From the very first time I met Thom for orientation, to each of the coaches who helped me with personal training or group classes - the entire experience has been nothing but positive.

FIT has got amazing staff who are always there to help you achieve your fitness goal. I have been going regularly to FIT since 45 days and it has been a great experience. I am usually not very regular to fitness classes but there's something at FIT that makes me show up every morning.

FIT has EXCEEDED my expectations!! After a long break from any kind of working out, spending long hours at the office sitting and eating any food that was quick and easy, as opposed to healthy, I knew I needed a change and spent several weeks searching for a gym, program, or training that would get me results and keep me accountable long term. One of the most important factors to consider when choosing a crossfit gym is the coaches. Having the right coach can prevent a lot of injuries and pain. The coaches at FIT are well educated in fitness and they all compete. I travel a lot and I visit many cross fit gyms. I can comfortably say that the FIT coaches are some of the best coaches I have worked out with.
Another factor is the environment. Fit has a very friendly and inviting environment. everyone is welcomed and encouraged.

I have belonged to many gyms in my lifetime, but FIT really elevated training to the next level. My trainer, Jeff Samson, is knowledgeable, patient, and, most importantly, customized my work-out to my goals and to who I am as a person -- in other words, I didn't feel I got a boiler plate routine that they give to everyone -- I was treated as an individual which I greatly appreciated. Of course, working out at FIT is not cheap, but I felt it was worth it. I highly recommend FIT and Jeff Samson. Many of the other trainers also seemed well-versed and there does not appear to be a high turnover

This place is the total bomb. Not only have Thom and Tracey Downing created a welcoming place for, as they say all kinds of bodies and all kinds of levels of fitness, but the trainers here are used to working with the differently abled, and take extraordinary measures to keep me safe. I train with Angelo and do MMA for Self Defense with Jeff… Sampson. Both of these trainers challenge me appropriately and I build muscle and skills consistently. Plus which, they are some of the sweetest, nicest trainers as people that you'll find anywhere. They truly care!

Thom is amazing. Due to pre existing injuries I haven't been able to train properly at FIT yet. But I have focused on nutrition education with Thom. He has so much information and keeps me accountable. All the staff and trainers are super friendly here, even the clients look like they're having fun!

These guys hit it out of the park on every pitch! Thom and Tracey know what they are talking about and really listened to me for about two hours and then emailed me a plan to help with five facets of wellness to focus on- surprisingly working out like a maniac did not even make the list. Everything they told me was based on evidence, no quackery her, and they gave me better advice in ten minutes than my MD has in the last ten years.

I've been training here for almost a year and the entire staff from the personal trainers, front desk, to physical therapist have been great. The owners are super involved and everyone does their best to make you feel comfortable.
I came here after recovering from pulling my back and they helped get me back into shape. I've worked with Trevor and Kate and both are excellent trainers.

We have been going to FIT for a few years and they are simply amazing. They are comprehensive for all areas of exercise and health. They have been fantastic for our 9 year old daughter who plays tennis nationally as well. I have seen dramatic difference from before going to FIT to now week over week. I have been going to FIT weekly or bi-weekly for more than 11 years! The trainers at FIT are excellent and I worked consistently with one for ten years and now with another who is also outstanding. I am "older" and credit FIT with my good health and strong, body. The owners of FIT are very friendly and accommodating, as are all the trainers. After a lifetime of joining gyms and never going, I am at 9 years and counting. They've never given up on me and there is something that just keeps me coming back. The trainers are fantastic and have the flexibility to accommodate your latest uncooperative body part while still encouraging you to reach for the best you can do. If PE had been even close to this in school, I might have actually liked it. It is a very comfortable and supportive atmosphere and I always leave in a better place than I arrived.
