Each of our classes blends yoga's physical benefits with its power to awaken compassion. Using special breathing techniques, and yoga postures for toning, strength, and flexibility, students learn to let go of tension from both body and mind. The relaxing experience leaves students feeling calm and rejuvenated, empowered to create a more full and healthy connection to life.

Topics covered include basic breathing techniques, the importance of relaxing within a pose, as well as detailed physical instructions for our postures. Veteran practitioners looking for a review of basics also enjoy this class.

The first half (to 2/3) of the class will resemble our other mindful and rejuvenating Kripalu yoga classes. While offering plenty to challenge even the most experienced yogi, the class strongly supports using easier and "friendlier" modifications whenever needed. Everyone is encouraged to go at their own pace.
Note: Because of the current turbulence in some of our work and personal lives, we want to emphasize that all students are welcome to take our classes regardless of financial situations. Below are considered "Donation suggestions, " only. If you have nothing to give, that is fine. If you can give more, we sincerely appreciate your generosity.
We encourage people to 'drop in' for our regular yoga classes (as opposed to yoga nidra meditation series and workshops) and there is a drop in fee of $18 per class. Please drop us an email with your phone number to pre-register and just in case there is anything that we would like to discuss with you.
About half our students bring mats, and half don't use a mat at all (partly because we have a carpeted floor). This is a personal preference. But if we are in our silent centering meditation in the beginning of class, come in, and sit immediately, and quietly, near the door. Please do any unzipping, jacket removal, etc. outside the room before coming in.

The Breathwork experience was nothing short of sensational! Having practiced Mindfulness Meditation for over 35 years amplified this workshop to a level I really did not expect. After an hour of breath work the relaxation period was, for me, replete with an overall sensation of floating. I tuned into a problem I was wrestling with and received immediate guidance. I saw my future steps with ease and was even shown symbols for a painting I am working on, which I used the next day. Although I understand everyone's experience will be different, I trust the process now and will begin to integrate this

I started my journey to find myself a long time ago. This past month I have made a lot of progress but last night was my breakthrough. I entered the BreathWork Journey not knowing what to expect. Walking up to the Yoga Center I met Jim. He is so kind and genuine, I felt safe and comfortable immediately and was able to let my walls come down and truly give myself up to the journey. I am so thankful to have met Jim and have him help me accomplish in one night what I have sought for so long...self-worth.

I continue to be impressed with Jim and Tyler's "Mindful Improv" classes -- I've attended 7 sessions so far and plan to continue.
Jim's well established yoga and mindfulness practices and Tyler's years of improv experience are evident in the care they bring to their weekly gatherings. The classes function as a safe and inviting space for students to explore conscious play together.
Though I might have guessed that Improv practice would be challenging and fun, what delighted me was to find that in Jim and Tyler's classes, Improv affords us a potent vehicle for self exploration as well.

After a tough breakup, being single, and living on my own again, I noticed I'd begun to isolate myself. On a whim, I signed up for a class at the Yoga Center. I found the classes warm and friendly and, by week two, I'd already started to sleep better at night. Jim was an awesome yoga instructor! He tailored the class towards the students who were in the class. I personally suffer from grinding my teeth at night which causes a lot of jaw and neck soreness and tightness. After the class all my neck soreness and tightness were gone and Jim taught me how to relax my jaw muscles which has helped immensely!! I would totally recommend him to all my physical therapy patients!!

I've enjoyed going to Jim's yoga and meditation classes at the Yoga Center since this past summer! Jim shares his welcoming yoga practice in a cozy, safe and peaceful environment. This practice offers more than a yoga class at the gym.

I am learning to practice Yoga Nidra with Jim Readey at the Yoga Center. Jim listens with compassion and wisdom that is combined with a skilled attentiveness to find opportunities for growth, even with the most challenging emotions. His willingness to email between sessions keeps the momentum of understanding moving forward with information that illuminates the understanding and inspires the journey. I have taken a variety of Jim's yoga classes and some workshops for 12 years and have never been disappointed. My new favorite class is Thursday nights which involves some traditional poses and some core and strengthening exercises and a great deal of humor. Jim is compassionate, sincere and the real deal.

Highly recommend. The class is a paradox- challenging & relaxing at the same time. Challenging yoga exercises & poses intermixed with relaxing meditation enhanced by the snores of Jim's dog Dozer. Jim is an adept instructor- helped me re-connect with yoga after being away for years while at the same time introducing yoga to my sister in such a way she agreed to return for another class. Both of us were amazed at how tone yet relaxed we felt after, my sister expressed neck tension relief she hadn't thought possible.
